I was sooo hoping to try 1.16, but i can't get it to work. Just my opinions.Thank you for sharing your opinion, just one question: dod you play with D3D11 or without it? Wishful thinking - I wish a version of this with a color palette closer to the original game would be made as it regards plants & trees. A nice & balanced contrast between different types of plants of various colors, etc is basically lost. Quite honestly, it is monotonous to play after a few hours. The color choices for almost all of the trees and plants is basically all dark greens. In a very deep forest, it obviously will not be bright, but the heavy forests are so dark, it literally strains my eyes. In the noonday sun, it seems almost dark under them. They are very tall & have very little tree canopy to block sunlight - the leaves are grouped at the top of the tree. The hill above Khorinis near the lighthouse that has a small group of trees. The lighting filters in some areas just make no sense. This applies to both the overall light filter in open areas & especially under heavy tree canopy (it is almost like night in some places where it should not be). Sadly, L'Hiver it is way too dark for me. Even though it was not bright and cheery, it did not feel all that monotonous or kill my eyes with strain due to lack of contrast everywhere. In G1, there are no fields of pretty flowers, but there were some flowering plants here and there that provided color. There were many places of contrast between light and dark areas even in the forests, etc (even though the forests were not nearly as large or lush as G2). But the graphic environment was not purposely made of darker shades everywhere you look. It was a game of dirty, mean people & crude places where people lived. Grittiness is one of the major things that made G1 so great. There is a big difference between the two. They all claim that it fits with the game & helps create and atmosphere of oppression. I know it is *popular* for many revamps to make Gothic games to have an overall dark themed color palette. Second: The textures for many things are very nice - buildings, etc. And it is great that the conifers are not replaced with skinny aneorexic versions like Vurt's. The path from Xardas' tower to town had me so lost because of all of the extra wonderful plants & trees. This is one of the biggest attractions G2 has for me.

This mod even improves on that in some areas.

It is supposed to be filled with all sorts of foliage and the forests have full tree canopies. In G2, you are supposed to get lost from time to time in the forest.

It has matured & seems like it is heading in a better direction after years of the same complaints about it.įirst: one thing this mod does better than 99% of the revamp mods & texture packs - it keeps the feeling of wildness about G2 regarding the environment.

But I decided to just see what this one looked like graphically. I have avoided any game changing mods for decades because of all the issues they create.
